Until Until the Ice Melts The crawlers in the porno theater Knee pads worn and hands that feel for dollars and beckoning calls In the silence that breaks-up the scenes hear ragged claws scuttling across the concrete floor We followed the usher to our seats just for a laugh Cause bending darkness used to be our thing, til this one leaves an ice that lasts. So we left Now I can… hear the scrape from your feet/ while a rime obscures you as it weeps. A stiff sign that you can’t go on. Its custody might make you want to lean on me Go right ahead I need it just as much. So sit back and relax and take it easy on yourself Please, kiss me until the ice melts. Until Until the ice melts Now, there’s a 2” puddle at our feet, just enough to drown me So, sit back, relax and take it easy on yourself and please kiss me until the ice melts Until Until the ice melts

I saw you walking through the charming streets of the city that reads And catching a tropical breeze off the painted screens Were last night’s mistakes playing out like magic in your brain? Reminders of when you said life is best when it’s a mess Can I join as you strut in knock-off Prada sneakers through the parking lot of the Royal Farms? You said you could buy the real ones, but irony’s clever in the morning sun I just sigh tracing faded Max Factor in the cracks of your skin While you smile and wave at commuters jealous of the state you’re in. Then you said... Life is best when it’s a mess And that mess is easier to enjoy when you’re young and rudderless I know I’m driven by jealousy cause I’m a shadow of what I thought I’d be Life is best when it’s a mess And that mess is easier to enjoy when you’re young and rudderless Now, halcyon haunts every corner and alleyway You’re an ambassador from my better days Dress rehearsals where I made mistakes Without consequence like there is today To be young and lost in this town with you I’d trade anything and everything for one more go around with you One more go around

You asked me when I was getting back home to our rotting city Well, Iit'll have to wait, I'm hanging out poolside in Palm Springs It's a playground for the hangers So easy to hate They're getting drunk on throwback cocktails Bragging about celebrities they know Generously sharing their insights on life, in earshot so you'd know No matter, I'm sitting back watching them play spin the bottle and lounging on the chaise Passing the vape, perfect hair, blowing fetid air Feigning excitement for the DJ while they’re dancing in place Don't worry I snapped a spy shot. A panorama so you won't miss a thing And recorded a little video So, you can take in the scene Wait til you see the sensual pair that stayed behind while the others packed the hot tub like sardines. Stuck in each other's eyes. Slow dancing to a fast song, on the patio concrete That special moment right before they kiss, it's electric. I got it all recorded. I know you'll want to see this. It's going to make you laugh It's going to make you laugh. They think they're in love It's going to make you laugh It's going to make you laugh. They think they're in love. They think they're in love. They think they're in love.

All the ways we wasted the days, you didn’t want to plan our future And I misheard, you never said the words, I love you and that’s forever So I let you, just to show, when I’m not straight I could take it Then you might come back, if I didn’t care Cause you said, my grief’s a cross you couldn’t bear So, I packed my car with gasoline cans paid for with money I didn’t have And drove to the beach, astray in the sand covered with the ashes of lost years While echoing rhymes from inelegant times, became patterns of words never spoken… It’s grim to think, you did it all on the cheap but comforting when you stopped faking it Why did you have to be a glittering lure The only thing I could see Now twilight’s touch lifts mourning memories Setting the course lifting lines from romance, embracing tragedy in circumstance It’s grim to think you did it all on the cheap, but comforting when you stopped faking it Why did you have to be a glittering lure The only thing I could see now twilight’s touch lifts mourning memories You were everything to me but you didn’t want to be It’s grim to think you did it on the cheap, but comforting when you stopped faking it

Halloween 04:15
Hiding from the kids that come knocking at my door on Halloween. I'm sitting here til they leave The lights are off, the deadbolt’s locked The shades were drawn at 1 o'clock Don’t make a sound, they won’t know I’m in the dark I got Charleston chews, Mini snickers and Kit Kat’s too I got them for the kids But I ate all of it because I’m Sitting here high, lost inside, Hyperglycemic, making these words rhyme, Anything to bide my time These tropes will do just fine If I had to pin it down, it breaks my heart you're not around Another year has passed me by They're speeding up, I just don't know why. But you'll stay the same age, until I die It's not the costumed ghosts, that make me scared It's the reminder, that some kids are free of fear While others learn too soon of apologists for doom and gloom And a plastic mask can't protect them From the hard rain inside their chests. If I had to pin it down, it breaks my heart you’re not around Tha’s why I'm hiding from the kids that come Knocking at my door on Halloween
